Obituary

Tal D. Haight, 49, a resident of Poughquag for 14 years and formerly of Beacon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at home with loving family by his side.

Tal was born in Beacon on August 16, 1965. He had been employed by St. Denis Church for the past 10 years as well as the Beekman United Methodist Church for the past 5 years. He had previously worked for Sudler and Hennessey Marketing in Manhattan.

Tal was a parishioner at St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction. An avid hunter and fisherman, Tal also enjoyed archery, camping, hiking and being outdoors. He was a life member of the Green Haven Fish and Game Club, a member of the Southern Dutchess Rod and Gun Club, and a member of the Hudson Valley Historical Miniatures Guild (HVHMG). Tal also taught bowhunter safety as a volunteer for the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).

Tal was a dedicated member of the Boys Scouts of America, and shared his passion for scouting with his son, Ryan, who recently achieved the honor of Eagle Scout. Tal enjoyed attending summer camp and National Scout Jamboree with Ryan and was an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 40 in Hopewell Junction. An Eagle Scout recipient, Tal was a member of the National Eagle Scout Association. He also completed Wood Badge training and then became a staff member for numerous leadership courses. Tal was also a member of the Order of the Arrow at the Nacha Nimat Lodge #86.

On June 9, 1990 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon, Tal married his college sweetheart, Diane Brady Haight who survives at home. He is also survived by his son, Ryan Haight who is currently attending Hofstra University in Hempstead; his parents, Robert and Jean (Daddario) Haight of Beacon; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stephen and Carolyn (Schofield) Brady of Stormville; his sisters and their husbands, Mysia and Henry Hoogsteden of Belleville, NJ and Marci and Mark Keck of Dover, NJ; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Kerry Brady of Stormville and Stephanie and Ron Fiege of Waterford; and his nieces and nephews, Hayden, Brandon, Morgan, Lucero, Jessica, Ethan, Audry, and Emily, who will all miss him dearly.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 – 6 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for on Monday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Tal's memory to Boy Scouts of America, Hudson Valley Council, 6 Jeanne Drive, Newburgh NY 12550 for camperships at Camp Nooteeming.
