Teresa M. Burns, 86, a resident of Wappingers Falls, died on May 6, 2020 at home surrounded by her family.
Born on December 9, 1933 in Jamaica, Queens, Teresa was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Burgess) Gleason. On October 1, 1955, Teresa married the love of her life, George Vincent Burns, who predeceased her on March 15, 1969.
Teresa worked at the Empire State Building, United Nations and as a cashier at OTB in Fishkill for 30 years. She enjoyed spending summers on the Sound with her family.
Survivors include her children, Teresa Walsh and her husband Robert of Poughkeepsie, Marcella Burns of Wappingers Falls, Joyce Raymond and her husband Mark of Martinburgh, WV, Georgette Burns and her wife Stephanie of Danbury, Claudia Mahon and her husband John of Stormville, and Faith Burns of Fishkill; her grandchildren, Leighanne Russell and her husband Scott, Robert Walsh and his wife Jenny, Matthew Walsh, Timothy Walsh, Krystal Dubrowski and her husband Ryan, Michael Hammond, Vincent Raymond, Joshua Raymond, Nicolette Raymond, John P. Mahon, Luke C. Mahon, Gregory Guida. In addition to her husband, Teresa was predeceased by several siblings.
Services will be private at this time with interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
Memorial donations will be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Children Hospital or Hudson Valley Hospice.
