Theodore Brown, 94, a resident of the Town of Beekman for 20 years and formerly of Queens, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at his home.

Born in Charleston, SC on December 28, 1920, he was the son of James and Essie Mazyck Brown. Theodore was employed as a shipping clerk for Sol Spitz in Hauppauge for many years, and was a member of the Beekman Baptist Church.

On September 11, 1948 in New York City, Theodore married his childhood sweetheart, Vernell Scott who predeceased him on October 16, 2011. This union produced four daughters, Noreen Chappell of Philadelphia, Quindel Brown of Beekman, Deirdre Brown of Beekman and Jacqueline Brown of St. Albans, Queens; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 8 great, great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Isabel Johnson.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 11am – 12pm at the Beekman Baptist Church, 1068 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. The service will follow at 12pm. Interment will be in Beekman Cemetery.
