WINGDALE – Theodore J. Cherwinski, 64, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2024 at home after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was a resident of Wingdale for over 40 years.
Ted was born at the US Army Hospital in Shirley, MA on June 18, 1959. He owned and operated T.J. Home Repairs. He was also a proud wireman for Hipotronics, Inc. in Brewster where he retired from after many years of service.
Ted's faith in God was beyond measure, and he gave his life to God. He was an active member of the Mission Church in Holmes as well as the Ellenville Assembly of God. He enjoyed collecting things and would do anything for anyone. Ted will be remembered as a friendly, caring, and loving friend and neighbor at his camp site at Roundout Valley Camping Grounds, where he enjoyed spending time. He loved taking rides around the campground on his golf cart greeting everyone he saw.
Ted was an amazing son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his mother, Audrey (Davis) Hayton of Poughquag; his sisters, Diane Pimpinelo Galen and her husband Rob of North Carolina and Carolyn Benkendorf and her husband Andy of Alaska; his nephews, Eric, Cody, and Nick; his daughter Denise Beilman and her husband Jacob; and his grandson, Everett Beilman. Ted was predeceased by his father, Zbigniew Ted Cherwinski.
Ted's beloved cat, Sammy, was his best friend and tragically passed the day after his daddy on June 8th.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15th at the Mission Church, 4101 Route 52, Holmes from 10 – 11 am followed by a funeral service at 11 am. Burial will take place in Russell Mead Cemetery in Kent. Since blue was Ted's favorite color, please wear something blue to honor him!
