Theresa A. Irushalmi, a Fishkill resident since 1967, formerly of White Plains, died at home on Sunday, February 1, 2015. She was 72.
Daughter of the late Louis and Josephine (Criscuolo) DeRosa, she was born in White Plains on July 15, 1942.
In 2005, she retired from the NYS Dept. of Corrections, where she worked as a secretary for 20 years at Sing-Sing Correctional Facility. Prior to her employment with the state, she had worked for Mid-Hudson Savings Bank in Fishkill.
Theresa was an active parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill and belonged to the Third Order Society of St. Francis. She volunteered her time and energy to many charitable organizations and those in need, whether by working at a clothing drive or driving people to their doctor's appointments, she was always eager to help. She was an animal lover and also enjoyed taking her neighborhood walks.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Lebron & her husband Otto of Fishkill; her daughter, Denise McCloskey & her husband Thomas of Poughquag; her daughter, Susan Donohue & her husband Thomas of Woodlands, TX; her grandchildren, Lourdes Lebron, O'Daniel Lebron, Denise McCloskey, Samantha McCloskey, Nicole McCloskey, Connor Donohue, Luke Donohue, and Tara Donohue; and her sister, Rita Sammon & her husband Walter of Carrolton, TX.
She was predeceased by her parents as well as her granddaughter, Celeste Lebron in 1998.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 7 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, it was Theresa's wish to have relatives & friends offer Mass intentions.
