Theresa B. Kaps, 75, an area resident since 1973 and previously of Brooklyn and the Bronx, passed away in her husband’s arms on April 18, 2015 after an 8 year courageous battle with cancer.

Born in the Bronx on February 6, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ann (Colleluori) Doria. She then married Henry S. Kaps on October 25, 1958 at St. Martin de Tours Church in the Bronx.

Theresa was a parishioner at St. Columba R.C. Church in Hopewell Junction. She enjoyed cooking and will always be remembered as the “Family Matriarch” because of her love and dedication to her family.

In addition to her husband of 56 years, Theresa is also survived by her children, Robert S. Kaps and his wife JoAnn of Fishkill, Karen A. Kaps of Wanaque, NJ, and Kevin J. Kaps and his wife Nicole of Williamsburg, VA; her grandchildren, Christina Paulino and her husband Ralph, Damien Kaps and his wife Kara, Evan Kaps, and Cameron Kaps; her great-grandchildren, Trinity, Adriana, and Jayden; her brother, Vincent Doria of Wingdale; and her niece, Michelle Ruvolo of Carmel. In addition to her parents, Theresa was also predeceased by her infant daughter, Denise Ann Kaps and her brother, Joseph A. Doria.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10am at St. Columba R.C. Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery will be private.
