WAPPINGERS FALLS - Thomas Ives Budington, 77, died peacefully on June 15, 2025 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. An area resident for 10 years, he previously lived in Mohegan Lake for over 43 years.

Born in the Bronx on January 3, 1948, Thomas was the son of the late Thomas and Christina (MacDonald) Budington. He proudly served in the US Army from 1968-1970. Thomas retired in 1996 as Detective Sergeant from the Town of Carmel Police Department after 30 years of service.

An avid outdoorsman, Thomas enjoyed mountain climbing, riding his motorcycle, and jet skiing. He had also been taking flying lessons. He was passionate about music, and was gifted at playing the drums and guitar.

On October 3, 1971 in Yonkers, he married Violet (Grassi) Budington who survives at home after 53 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughters, Christina Saragiotis and her husband Thomas Gold and Valerie McGivney and her husband Patrick; his grandchildren, Carly and Ryan Delehanty; his brothers and their wives, William and Maureen Budington and Walter and Catherine Budington; and many nieces and nephews.
