Thomas C. Chefalo, a Fishkill resident since 1999, formerly of Manitou and Peekskill, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 84.
Son of the late Charles and Carmela (Arpaio) Chefalo, he was born in Peekskill on November 8, 1931.
Thomas was dedicated to his community, and throughout his lifetime he committed countless hours of service to many organizations throughout the area, including the Cold Spring Lions Club, Cold Spring Boat Club, Manitou School Board (Past President), Philipstown Little League (Past President), Garrison Fire Department, and he was currently a board member for the Deer Crossing H.O.A. in Fishkill.
He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve as a Radioman, and was also a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill.
He worked for I.B.M. at their Tarrytown facility for 32 years, and retired as a Systems Analyst in 1986.
On November 29, 1953, Thomas married Nancy Tomassio at Assumption Church in Peekskill. Mrs. Chefalo survives at home in Fishkill.
He is also survived by his son, James Chefalo & his wife Grace of Fishkill; his son, Michael Chefalo & his wife Heather of Cold Spring; his son, Thomas Chefalo of Newburgh; his daughter, Maria Cofini & her husband Paul of Cold Spring; his daughter, Angela Williams & her husband Westin of San Diego, CA; his grandchildren, Neoma, Evan & his wife Dawn, Marley, Michael, Mario, Carlo, Carmela, Blake, and Kaelie; his great-grandchildren, Evan, Eliyah, and Azariah; his sister, Virginia Nohai; and his brother, Joseph Chefalo & his wife Sharon. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Tina Mastranunzio as well as two brothers-in-law.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 24 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 25 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill.
