Thomas H. Deppert, 81, a resident of Fishkill since 1993 and formerly of Ohio and Queens, died on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Sky View Rehabilitation and Health in Croton-on-Hudson.
Born in Manhattan on March 21, 1929, he was the son of Thomas H. and Adele Roge Deppert. He was employed as a sales manager for Borden Inc., Columbus, OH until his retirement in 1992. He was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church where he volunteered as a senior bus aide and drove parishioners to doctor's appointments, and was a member of their Prayer Chain. He was also a member of St. Mary's Council #4065 Knights of Columbus where he worked on their campaign to build a memorial for the unborn. He had served on the board of his townhouse development as treasurer for several years. Tom loved ballroom dancing and golfing, and was an avid baseball and football fan of the Yankees and Giants. During his wife's illness, he also volunteered his time at many ALS fundraisers.
On April 29, 1950 at St. Sylvester's Church in Brooklyn, Tom married Eileen Boyle who predeceased him on December 12, 1991. He is survived by his children, Karen Tevis and husband Douglas of Cortlandt Manor, Kenneth Deppert and wife Pamela of NC and Dianne Godfrey and husband Brian of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Brian Tevis of KY, Matthew Tevis of Cortlandt Manor, Daniel Deppert of WA, Jason, Jenna and Kyle Godfrey of Wappingers Falls; his siblings, Dorothy Linscott of VA, Robert Deppert of FL, Fred Deppert of Long Island, Edward Deppert and wife Frances of AZ, Arlene Paige of FL and Dennis Deppert and wife Cheryl of FL; his sisters-in-law, Grace Deppert of Brooklyn, Theresa Rickley and husband Edward of MA and Claire Owens of Long Island; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Deppert.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1 to 5 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9:45 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, Fishkill followed by interment in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
