Thomas Anthony Gunther, 81, a resident of Hopewell Junction for 49 years, died on April 1, 2016 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital.
Born in Teaneck, NJ on October 23, 1934, he was the son of Walter and Dorothea Baranca Gunther. Tom was employed as a Tool and Die Maker at IBM in East Fishkill for 25 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church. He was also an avid fisherman.
On June 27, 1959 in Cliffside Park, NJ, Tom married the love of his life, Lydia Spertal. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Jude and Brian Flint, Alida and Christopher Fenton; his daughter-in-law, Christine Gunther; his grandchildren, Tyler, Lacey, Casey, Max, Thomas, Devon and Tess; and his sister, Alice Gunther. He was predeceased by his son, Timothy T. Gunther on May 5, 2015.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 6-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
