Thomas Plimley, a lifelong resident of Beacon, passed away on October 4th, 2025, at Montefiore St Luke's Cornwall. He was 98.
Thomas was born at the Castle Point VA Medical Center in Wappingers Falls on March 13, 1927, to the late Thomas and Ada (Bell) Plimley. He graduated Beacon High School and went on to proudly service his county with the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge in 1946, as a Carpenter's mate third class, Thomas began his career with Texaco Research Center in Beacon and retired as a supervisor in June 1982.
On April 6th, 1947, at Trinity Methodist Church in Beacon, Thomas married the love of his life, Hester Lewis. Thomas and Hester built a loving home and family together, welcoming three daughters. Hester predeceased Thomas on March 22nd, 2017.
Following his retirement, Thomas enjoyed spending time on the water, racing sailboats on the Hudson and maintaining membership with the Chelsea and New Hamburg Yacht Club. Thomas enjoyed golfing at the Osiris Country Club in Walden, camping and fishing at Raquette Lake in the Adirondacks, hunting deer in the Catskills, and sharing those hobbies as a Boy Scout leader.
Thomas leaves behind his daughters, Terry VanVoorhis and her husband, Daniel, Linda LaPlante and her husband, Gary, Susan Leenhouts and her husband, Tim; his grandchildren, Christopher VanVoorhis, Matthew VanVoorhis, Brian, VanVoorhis, Jackie Lee, Eric LaPlante, Jeff Papo, Mark Papo, Kathryn Leenhouts, Kerry Leenhouts; his great grandchildren, Sydney VanVoorhis, Jackson VanVoorhis, Madison VanVoorhis, Kaitlyn VanVoorhis, Thomas VanVoorhis, Mason VanVoorhis, Ryan VanVoorhis, Kieran Leenhouts, Hudson Leenhouts, Holland LaPlante, Nolan LaPlante, Juliette Lee, Charlotte Lee.
In addition to his parents, Thomas and Ada Pimley, and his loving wife, Hester Plimley, Thomas was predeceased by his siblings, Art, Frank, Harry, Fred, Helen, Nellie, Lucy and Dorothy.
Calling hours will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a service at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment with military honors will immediately follow at the Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 US Route 9S, Fishkill, NY 12524.
