Thomas J. Schmid, 63, a lifelong area resident, died on June 17, 2021 at Garnet Health Medical Center.

Born on September 5, 1957 in Yonkers, Thomas was the son of Joseph and Dorothea (Lorio) Schmid.

Thomas was a mechanic for NYC Transit MABSTOA for over 20 years. He was a member of WRAM Model Airplane Club and enjoyed motorcycles and cars especially muscle cars.

Survivors include his daughter Celine Schmid, his mother Dorothea Schmid; his siblings, Joseph Schmid, Susan Brophy and her husband Andrew, Mark Schmid and his wife Carol, his nieces and nephews, Tyler, Drew, Mark and Ayden; his fiancé Lucy Cannella; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7pm. There will be a memorial service following AT 7PM at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The service will be live-streamed through the funeral home website for those who are unable to attend.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
