HOPEWELL JUNCTION-Thomas D. Walsh, 62, a resident of Hopewell Junction for 38 years and formerly of Carmel, died on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center with his family by his side.
Born on November 3, 1951 in Cold Spring, he was the son of John and Genevieve (Wallace) Walsh. On September 21, 1970 in Elton, Maryland, he married Katherine Maude Simpson.
Thomas worked as a Heavy Equipment Machine Operator (HEMO) for the Town of Carmel Highway Department for 42 ½ years until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of the Teamsters, Local 456 in Putnam County and an honorary life member of the Whortlekill Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Katherine Maude; his daughters, Donna Glennon and her husband, Paul of Hopewell Junction, Tammi Walsh and her fiancé, Jeff Peni, Jr. of Hopewell Junction; his granddaughter, Brittney Grove of Long Island; his brothers and sisters, Patricia Conklin and her husband Spencer of North Carolina, John Walsh and his wife Linda of Catskills, Margaret Pawson of Hopewell Junction, Eddie Walsh and his wife Carol of Wappingers Falls, Billy Walsh and his wife Patty of Marlboro, Marie Walsh of Connecticut, Patrick Walsh and his wife Edith of Amenia; and many nieces and nephews. Thomas was predeceased by his brother, Richard "Dickie" Walsh and his brother-in-law, Jack Pawson.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
