Vera Romani, age 78, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was born in the beautiful Bronx on November 8, 1944 to the late Jose and Maria (Mas) Collazo. She married her beloved husband Robert Romani on August 13, 1963. The two have known each other since they were 13 years old and have been married for 60 years. Robert survives at home.
Known for her impish sense of humor, she loved to make people laugh. That was her defining characteristic. She worked for Pizza Village as a server for over 30 years and treated her customers as her family. Which meant they were not excluded from her joking. This is how she expressed love. She was also a creative person. She made countless Halloween costumes, loved to decorate her house, and do various crafty projects.
In addition to her beloved husband Robert Romani, Vera is survived by her children: Valerie Steblein and her husband Roger; Denise Evans and her husband Paul, Roberto Romani and his wife Mary, and Michele Romani and Wayne Weidenbenner; her grandchildren: Robert Cocuzza (wife Kim), Angela Cerilli (husband Mike) and Paul Evans (fiancée Deidre), Rocco and Marco Romani, and Heidi and Emmalina Weidenbenner; her 2 great- grandchildren: Leighton Cocuzza and Sterling Cerilli; her sister Frieda Lugo and her beloved nieces and nephews.
Vera was predeceased by her brothers Jose and Jackie, and her sisters Marie and Marcia.
