Vernell Brown, 85, a resident of the Town of Beekman for 17 years and formerly of Queens, died on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on September 4, 1926, she was the daughter of Leslie and Anna Washington Scott. Vernell was a member of the Beekman Baptist Church and was a childcare provider through Catholic Charities.
On September 11, 1948 in New York City, Vernell married Theodore Brown who survives at home. She is survived by her daughters, Noreen Chappell of Philadelphia, Quindel Brown of Beekman and Jacqueline Brown of St. Albans; her brother, Robert Scott of Brooklyn; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 am to 12 pm at the Beekman Baptist Church, 1068 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by the funeral service at 12pm with Rev. Dr. Robert E. Wisor officiating. Interment will follow in Beekman Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
