Obituary

WAPPINGERS FALLS – Victor Chain, a Wappingers Falls resident since 1963 and formerly of Orange County, died at home on Saturday, January 7, 2017. He was 81.
Son of the late Alexander and Sophie (Greak) Chain, he was born in Blooming Grove, NY on July 8, 1935. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Throughout his career, he worked as a truck driver for several different companies in the Hudson Valley until his retirement in 1983. Victor was a member of the Teamsters Local 445 as well as the Teamsters Local 707. One of his favorite hobbies was working on tractors.
On May 25, 1960, he married Barbara A. Niver at Trinity Methodist Church in Beacon. Barbara survives at home in Wappingers Falls.
Victor is also survived by his son, Victor Chain & his wife Gladys of Phillipsport; his son, David Chain of Highland; his daughter, Robin Walsh of Wallkill; his son, Randy Chain of Poughkeepsie; his granddaughters, Amanda and Melissa Walsh; his brothers, Alex Chain of Missouri, Gene Chain & his wife Carolyn of Florida, Edward Chain & his wife Dolores of Campbell Hall, and Thomas Chain of Middletown; his sister, Barbara Sanok & her husband Edmund of Goshen; also many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
He was predeceased by his parents as well as a brother, John Chain, and two sisters, Sylvia Grey and Julie Chain.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10th at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11th at the funeral home, followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
