Victor H. Gutierrez, MD, 87, longtime resident of Fishkill, NY died peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

Born in Cuba, on January 22, 1936. He married his loving wife Helen in 1961 and shortly thereafter immigrated to the United States.

Victor was an avid baseball and golf enthusiast. He played baseball throughout his school years at the University of Havana and continued to play for the Young Viejos when he lived in Miami. When he was not playing baseball, golf was his game.

An entertainer at heart, Victor was musically talented and could play an array of instruments. He was the life of the party.

His professional career began as a Pediatrician at St. Joseph's Hospital, Yonkers, NY. He later became the Medical Director at Manhattan Psychiatric Center, Wards Island in the City of New York and retired in 2001.

Although a proud Cuban, his US patriotism was shown through, for in 1980 during the Gulf War, Victor took the Oath of Office of Major Medical Corps in the National Guard, State of New York and was Honorably Discharged in 1996 as a Lt. Colonel having received many Awards and Recognitions.

Victor is predeceased by his wife of 50+ years and is survived their two sons Victor Gutierrez Jr. his wife Maria & Alexander Gutierrez and his daughters Alexia & Gabriella.

Internment with a private service will be on Monday, January 15, 2024, at the Fishkill Rural Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial donation can be made in his memory to the Hudson Valley Hospice or Lustgarten Foundation in memory of his wife.
