Vincent P. Leone, 90, a resident of Dutchess County since 1956 and originally from Manhattan, died peacefully at home on Monday, September 13, 2010.
Born in Manhattan on September 30, 1919, he was the son of Dominick and Angelina Carbone Leone. He served in the US Army during World War II and was stationed in Alaska. As a dedicated musician, he had incredible knowledge of all facets of music. He tuned and repaired pianos, and also played in night clubs from New York City to the Catskills. He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and Monticello, and playing the piano for all family occasions. He was a parishioner of St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction where he served as an usher and was a former member of St. Mary's Council, Knights of Columbus in Fishkill.
On July 28, 1946 at the Guardian Angel Church in Manhattan, Vincent married Anne H. Tomaiko who died on October 12, 2009. He is survived by his children, Nancy Leone Schmidt and her husband Curtis of Poughkeepsie, Thomas Leone of Ancram, Patricia Palmer of LaGrange and Susan Kayarian and her husband James of Raleigh, NC; his grandsons, Jeffrey, Jonathan, Brian, Stephen and Adam; his great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn; his sister, Marie Forte of Flushing; his brothers, Michael Leone of Franklin, NC, Daniel Leone of Pompano Beach, FL and Richard Leone of Charlotte, NC; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Josephine.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
