Obituary

Fishkill- Vincent J. Macrillo, a resident of Fishkill, NY, passed away on February 4, 2022. He was 90.

Vincent was born on May 30, 1931 in West Newton, MA, the son of Joseph and Angelina (Ratta) Macrillo. Vincent graduated in 1948 from Newton High School, Newton, MA.
Vincent enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1951 to 1955. He was both proud of and grateful for that service. He was proud of his service aboard the Dixie-class destroyer tender, USS Yosemite (AD19), at that time the flagship of the COMDESLANT (Commander, Destroyer Force, Atlantic). There he achieved the rank of Interior Communication Electrician Second Class. He was grateful for the longstanding friendship he formed with one of his shipmates who introduced him to his future wife.

Vincent married Eleanor Cecilia Barry on November 12, 1955, at the Church of the Assumption, Peekskill, New York. Shortly after, Vincent and Eleanor moved to Dutchess County, NY. There, Vincent began in 1956 his career with IBM, and together, he and Eleanor started their immediate family that would eventually grow to five children: Christopher, Philip, Loretta, Mark and Thomas. Their marriage would last 66 years.

The activities that meant the most to Vincent were those involving family such as: the weekend preparation of tomato sauce and meatballs to be frozen for use during the week, the annual family cookout with friends and relatives from New York and Massachusetts (Coincidently, there was often a Yankee/Red Sox game scheduled for the same weekend that would bring out friendly and entertaining family debates.), the Christmas Eve decorating of a Charlie Brown look-alike Christmas tree and Christmas Eve dinner with the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

After 35 years, Vincent retired from IBM In 1991 as an Advisory Engineer in Poughkeepsie, NY. Among other things, Vincent was skilled as an electrician, carpenter and plumber and took pride in a job well done. After retirement, he enjoyed working as a contractor, but what he really enjoyed more than anything else were the people he was working with and for. His family and friends were what he enjoyed. It was when working with family and friends that Vincent felt the most satisfied and fulfilled.
Vincent was a member of St. Mary Mother of the Church Parish in Fishkill, NY. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Mary Council 4065, where he could often be found working with the catering crew on weekends.

In addition to his wife Eleanor, Vincent is survived by his children: V. Christopher Macrillo, Philip (Rebecca) Macrillo, Loretta (Terence) Walsh, Mark Macrillo and Thomas Macrillo; his grandchildren: Megan (Nicholas) Spaccarelli, Caitlin (John) Turchioe, Marcus, Samantha, Karlina, Carter and Alan Macrillo, and Conor Walsh; his great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Madison, Cora, Vincent and Lincoln; and his brother, Robert (Elaine) Macrillo; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Vincent is predeceased by his parents, his daughter-in-law Ann Macrillo, and his sisters Mary DiGironimo, Catherine Vosnak, Rose Gallello and Josephine Russo.
Calling hours will be at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill Inc., 1089 Main Street, on Sunday, February 13, 2022, from 1pm-3pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 11:30am, at St. Mary Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson St., Fishkill, NY.

A memorial for Vincent is planned for the spring of 2022.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hudson Valley Hospice or to the Alzheimer's Association. Vincent lived a life centered on family, friendships, traditions and his faith in God.
