Son of the late Pasquale and Grace Mazzeo, he was born on April 22, 1926 in Peekskill, NY, where he spent his early years, including a short stay at the St. Joseph's Home while his father returned to Italy. During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on active duty from 1943 - 1947. In 1951, his service was reactivated during the Korean Conflict. Throughout his tenure with the Navy, Vincent was stationed in the Pacific (Guam) and California. He was honorably discharged from service in 1952.
Vincent attended RCA Institutes on West 4th Street in NYC during the 1950s and had a 32 year-long career as an engineer with I.B.M. at their facility in Poughkeepsie. He retired in 1987. He was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill and member of the Knights of Columbus St. Mary's Council #4065.
He enjoyed many hobbies such as golfing, bowling, travel, and woodworking. An electrician and engineer by trade, he built his home in Fishkill with the help of friends. He was heralded for his cooking skills and hosted large holiday dinners where he was always found manning the grill, rolling the pasta, and managing the kitchen. Seafood was a special delight. But above all else, he cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
On December 4, 1954, he married Violet M. Florek at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in East Orange, NJ. After 50 years of marriage, Violet predeceased Vincent on September 27, 2005.
