Vincent D. Peteroy, a resident of Fishkill, NY since 2009, formerly of Staten Island and Nanuet, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 85.
Son of the late Frank and Agnes (Halpin) Peteroy, he was born in Staten Island, NY on June 4, 1938. In 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1963. He was a retired Firefighter with the FDNY 28 Truck in New York City.
Vincent was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill, NY. He volunteered for many years at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry in Nyack, NY. His hobbies included reading and collecting books, listening to Big Band Music and going out to dinner on Saturday nights.
On August 19, 1969, he married the love of his life, Judith Southwick, at St. Pauls' Church in Jersey City, NJ. Judy survives at home in Fishkill, NY.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Dr. Marcy Kelly and her husband Thomas of Katonah, NY, and his son, Dr. Donald Peteroy and his wife, Phoebe Reeves of Cincinnati, OH; his grandsons Aidan and Ryan Kelly; his sisters, Ann Mericko of Staten Island, NY and Yvonne McKee of Staten Island, NY: as well as several nieces & nephews and many other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to his parents, Vincent was also predeceased by his brother, Frank Peteroy, Jr. and his brothers-in-law, Cyril Mericko and Thomas McKee, Sr.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 23 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery, 604 Beekman Road, Hopewell Jct., NY.
