Obituary

Vincent Ralph Palomba Sr., 92, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1965 and formerly of Poughkeepsie and Manhattan, died on Saturday, January 2, 2016.

Born in Manhattan on September 9, 1923, he was the son of Mauro and Margaret Franciosa Palomba. Vincent proudly served our country in the US Army during World War II. He was employed as a supervisor for Canteen Vending for 37 years until his retirement in 1987. An avid bowler, he was a member of the Holy Rosary Bowling League, as well as many other leagues.

On September 9, 1951 at Holy Rosary Church in Manhattan, Vincent married Antoinette "Toni" Toepler who predeceased him on November 17, 1997. He is survived by his son, Vincent R. Palomba Jr. of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren Vincenzo Xavier, Luba and Marianna Palomba of Hopewell Junction; his brother, Mauro Palomba of Hopewell Junction; his sister, Grace Elicona of Garfield, NJ; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in Rose Hill Memorial Park with military honors.
