Violet L. Ladew, a resident of Dutchess County since 1974, formerly of Beford Hills, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 82.
Daughter of the late Kristen and Violet (Powis) Christensen, she was born in Stroudsburg, PA on November 30, 1931. On April 14, 1951, she married Elwood Ladew in Bedford Village. For 20 years, she worked as a clerk for Marty Motors Corp. in Mount Kisco, retiring in 1974.
Violet was predeceased by her husband in 1981.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Stanchfield & her husband Donald of Fishkill; her sister, Gloria Harpell of Concord, MA; and also several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her husband, Violet was also predeceased by her sisters, Edna Moran and Elsie Bacon.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29 at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
