Obituary

Virginia R. Harris, a lifelong resident of the Beacon and Fishkill area, passed away peacefully at her home on January 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 85 years old.

Virginia was born on December 7, 1940, in Beacon, New York, the daughter of the late Harold and Edna (Morris) Lake. She graduated from Beacon High School and was employed for many years at Beacon Looms. She was married to her beloved husband, Charles Harris, who predeceased her in 2006.

Virginia was an exceptional baker most well known for her cheesecake. She had a tender love for animals and especially loved her dogs. She brought her backyard to life; feeding the birds and tending to her gardens. Above all else, Virginia loved being with her family; treasuring every moment of togetherness, laughter, and shared memories.

She is survived by her loving children: Karen Harden (Scott), Laurie Marinaccio (Tim), Jeffrey Hockler (Kelly), and Bill Hockler (Jo-Anne). She was a devoted grandmother to Candice Walker (Chris), Jordan Marinaccio, Courtney Azzone (Drew), Charlie Marinaccio, Ryan Harden, Amanda Gianciotti (Nick), Celena Hockler (Steve), Jessica Hockler, Will Hockler, Danielle Hockler ( T.J. ) and William Hockler (Janelle), and a proud great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren.

Virginia is also survived by her siblings: Mattie Bosch, Marilyn Butler, Barbara Martire (Tony), Jayla Irons (Paul), and Sandy Tabone (Wayne), as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Charles, Virginia was predeceased by her sons Bryan Hockler and Tim Hockler, and her sister Duane Galletta.

Virginia will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. Her love was unconditional, whose heart was generous, and whose presence made life richer for everyone she knew. Her legacy of care, warmth, and devotion lives on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of calling her family or friend.
