Obituary

Virginia M. Pluta, 91, a resident of LaGrangeville since 1974 and formerly of the Bronx, died on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck.

Born in New York City on November 22, 1923, she was the daughter of Leo C. and Mary Hoffman Oscar. Virginia had been employed as a school crossing guard for the NYPD and was a cafeteria monitor at Arlington High School. She was a member of the Union Vale and LaGrange Seniors. She was also an avid reader and pinochle player.

Virginia is survived by her children and their spouses, Stephen and Catherine Pluta of Walnut Creek, CA, Thomas Pluta of Rohnert Park, CA, Christine and Thomas Rinaldi of Cottlekill; her grandchildren, Thomas and Christina Rinaldi, Claire Pluta, Theresa and Jon Nezezon; and her great-grandchildren, Erin, Anna, Catie, Alexa, Christina, Michael and Joseph. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Pluta, on January 21, 2001 and her sister, Dorothy.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
