Obituary

Vittorio Novielli, 86, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

Born on April 18, 1936, in Sannicandro di Bari, Puglia, Italy, he was the son of the late Maria Novielli (Rizzi) and late Micheleangelo Novielli. Vittorio attended university in Italy and emigrated to the United States in 1953, where he settled in New York City, NY.

On September 24, 1961, Vittorio married Mary Ippolito, also of Sannicandro di Bari. In 1969, they relocated to East Fishkill, NY, where they raised a family and he enjoyed a career in technology at IBM, retiring after 21 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Catholic Church in Hopewell Jct., NY for 52 years before relocating to Mount Pleasant, SC, in 2021, where he became a parishioner of St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Vittorio was a devout family man who cherished his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a student of Roman and Italian history, world politics, an opera enthusiast, amateur chef, avid gardener, and enjoyed online communications with family and friends around the world.

Vittorio is survived by his wife Mary Novielli, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Linda Novielli, daughter and son-in-law Maryanne and Nicholas Signorelli, grand-children Ava Debs, Ashley Hansen, Antonio Novielli and Nicole Jacobs, and husband Thomas Jacobs, and great-grandchildren Archer Hansen, and Tommy, Austin, and Liam Jacobs. Vittorio is also survived by his brothers Vito Novielli and Nicola Novielli, and predeceased by brothers Michele Novielli, Giuseppe Novielli and Constantino Novielli, and sisters Mariania DiCeglie, Rosa Chimenti and Angela Giustino.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 10:00 AM, St. Columba Catholic Church in Hopewell Junction, NY, followed by a burial at St. Denis Cemetery, in Beekman, NY.
