Obituary

Walter Vincent Bogdan, Sr. passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. He was 77 years old.

Walter was born August 3, 1935 in the Bronx and was the son of the late Paul J. and Antoinette Bogdan. He served active duty in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957 and was honorably discharged in June, 1963. He later worked as a printer, retiring from the Poughkeepsie Journal in 1997.

Walter is survived by his loving wife Rita, whom he wed on April 20, 1963 at Sacred Heart Church in Mount Vernon; and his children, Walter V. Bogdan, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Glen Allen, VA, Genevieve Bogdan and her husband Steven Bowdler of Poughkeepsie, Stephanie Bogdan-Drummond and her husband Wyeth of LaGrangeville; his two grandchildren, Palmer Matthew and Sage Elizabeth Bogdan of Glen Allen, VA; sister-in-law, Barbara Bogdan; brother-in-law, Anthony E. Trovato and his wife Sherrill of Fountain Valley, CA; his nieces and nephews, Barbara Huber, Carolyn Ohlson, Paul J. Bogdan, Paul E. Bogdan, Anthony E. Trovato, Edward J.Trovato and John A. Trovato; and great-nephews, Kyle and John Ohlson. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward J. and Joseph P. Bogdan; and his niece, Susan Bogdan.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.
