Poughkeepsie – Walter Archibald Clarke Jr., a lifelong local area resident, died at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie on March 2, 2023. He was 71 years old.

Son of the late Walter and Margaret (Parmali) Clarke Sr., he was born in Poughkeepsie on August 20, 1951. Walter was a lifelong employee of M and S Auto Shop as a mechanic.

Walter was always there for his family and listened well. He always cracked jokes and had the goofiest laugh when playing a joke on someone.

Widower he married Bonnie (Race) Clarke. He was predeceased by his wife on October 16, 2014.

Survivors include his son Walter Clarke III, daughter Beth O'Leary, daughter Stephanie Mahoney, grandchildren, Walter Clarke IIII, Brianne Clarke, Jessica Harris, Charlie Harris, Dylan Harris, and Steven Mahoney.

Funeral Services will be private at this time. Arrangements are under the care of McHoul Funeral Home.
