POUGHQUAG - Walter R. Westmoreland, 82, a resident of Poughquag, died on June 17, 2025 at home. He previously lived in Carmel, NY.

Born on March 3, 1943 in New Rochelle, NY, Walter was the son of the late Clint and Helen (Hardy) Westmoreland. He proudly served in the US Navy. He retired from Brewster Ford where he was as a mechanic.

An avid outdoorsman, Walter especially liked spending time in the woods and was a fan of wolves.

Walter is survived by his partner of 25 years, Carol Emery; his children, Lee Rocco, Jill Cataldi and her husband Chris, Chris Westmoreland, Kelley Maloney and her husband Robert, and Karly Aguilar and her husband David; his grandchildren, Joseph, Jennifer, Cameron, Samara, Xavier, and Evangeline; his sister, Lynn Kluizenaar and her husband Donald; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Walter was also predeceased by his siblings, Jon Westmoreland, Robert (Bubbles) Westmoreland, and Eileen Lefebve.
