Wen Yuan Wang passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026 with family by his side, at Northwell Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, of a severe lung infection. He was a dedicated father, grandfather, husband, cherished friend, and long-time accomplished engineer.

Born on February 3, 1947 in Shanghai, China, Wen grew up in Taiwan, and graduated from the National Taiwan University Electrical Engineering Department in 1968, bringing great pride to his family. After a year of military service, where he specialized in Army Ordnance on the island of Kinmen (a heavily fortified frontline zone between Taiwan and mainland China at the time), he studied at the University of Cincinnati and earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan.

He and Shirley met in Cincinnati, where they were married on September 25, 1972. He worked for many years as an Electrical Engineer at IBM and Intel.

Wen is survived by his daughters Shawei Wang So and son-in-law Ed So and Shayee Wang and son-in-law Robert Cheng; his granddaughters Kaileen and Kaity So and Alisha and Justine Cheng; his sisters Susan Chen, Wen Huey Wang and Wen Chuan Wang; and nieces and nephews John Chen and Charlene Trapp, Kae Shen and Kevin Chen, and Ray and Candace Lin.

He was predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife Shirley Wang.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4pm on Saturday September 5, 2026 at the McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction, with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 2:30pm.
