Obituary

BEEKMAN – Wesley Carl Wilhelmsen, 68, an area resident since 1999 and formerly of Lake Dutchess in Holmes, died peacefully at his home on December 14, 2020.

Born in Brooklyn on March 1, 1952, he was the son of Willy and Liv (Sunde) Wilhelmsen. Wesley received his Masters’ Degrees from Western Connecticut State University and Lehman College. He was employed as a carpenter for the NYC District Council of Carpenters and a teacher for the NYC school system. He was a member of the Beekman Baptist Church and the Sons of Norway. Wesley was an Eagle Scout and also served as an Assistant Scoutmaster. He enjoyed playing in the Mid Hudson Senior Baseball League. Wes loved skiing, sports and spending time with his family. Wes had a wonderful love for animals, geology and science.

Wes is survived by his wife Linda Mincey, daughter Leah Wihelmsen Faustin; son Soren Clark Wilhelmsen; grandchildren, Idris Henri Wilhelmsen Faustin, Zuri Liv Wilhelmsen Faustin and Gianna Wilhelmsen; his sisters, Debra Owsley and Kym Van Wicklen; and his nieces and nephews, William Jensen, Danika Owsley, Lilja Owsley and Caitlin Schwartz.

Memorial donations may be made to the following charities/organizations in Wes’ honor: Hopewell Reformed Church where he played in the bell choir, Beekman Baptist Church or a local food bank or shelter of your choice.

We will not be gathering for a wake or funeral at this time however, we will have a celebration of Wes’ life in the upcoming year. We will send out details regarding this day of celebration once we have chosen a date. Thank you all for your love and support over this past year and looking forward to celebrating with you in the future.
