William Thomas Avezzano (often known as "Big Avey") passed away on October 29, 2024 at the age of 81. He was born in Yonkers, NY on October 3, 1943 to the late Anthony and Mary (Vrtiak) Avezzano. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers in 1961. Bill has been married for the last 57 years to his loving wife Dolores (Giordano) Avezzano. She survives at home.

For many years, Bill owned and operated Bill's Music Shop in Yonkers. He has always been very passionate about music, and especially loved listening to country music. He was also a school bus driver for Arlington Central School District for 15 years. His favorite thing above all was being at home spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife Dolores, Bill is survived by his two children: Diane Peterson and her partner Tony Gimigliano, and William Avezzano and his wife Marcia; his six grandchildren: Nicole Pockett and her husband Leo Schnetzler, Marcella Moret, Michael Peterson and his wife Alex, Alexa Peterson, Nick Avezzano, and William Avezzano Jr; his six great-grandchildren: Michelle, Jaxon, Colton, Madi, Declan, and Haidyn; and his three siblings: Tom Avezzano, Barbara Sivco (Bob), and Donna Scott (John) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday November 3, 2024 from 3-7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday November 4, 2024 at 10 am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha 1925 Route 82 LaGrangeville, NY, followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery.
