Chamberlain
January 7, 1943 – May 28, 2026
William F. Chamberlain passed away on May 28, 2026 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 83 years old. Born on January 7, 1943 in Tarrytown, NY, he was the son of the late John and Laura (Vincent) Chamberlain.
During his high school career, William won State Championships for wrestling and cross country. After high school, he proudly served our country in the United States Army, completing a tour in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and a Life member of Riverside Hose Co 44 Fire Department Tarrytown, NY. William married his loving wife Sarah (Chebetar) Chamberlain on April 8,1978.
He was very much a family man, and greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. In the summer, you could find him out in the backyard grilling up "Billy burgers" for everyone. He loved dancing, and all kinds of music especially his country music and Elvis Presley. He loved trips to the beach, golfing, and feeding the birds. In his CB radio days, he was known as "Twister." Due to his beautiful Christmas decorating skills, he was mentioned in an article in the Poughkeepsie Journal about Best Decorated Home for Christmas.
He is survived by his wife Sarah Chamberlain; his children: Noreen and Adam; his grandchildren: Tony, John, Ashley, Brittney, Zachary, and Courtney; his great-grandchildren: Melanie, Lila, Coraline, Jayvius, Chance, Mateo, Tajay, and Davina; his brother Robert Chamberlain and his wife Victoria; his former daughter-in-law Cynthia Hartman as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
