Fishkill – William Henwood Cook, age 96, passed away at home on February 15, 2022. He was born on December 12, 1925 in Haddonfield, NJ to parents Henry Cook, Jr. and Ella (Allen) Cook. He married his beloved wife Elsie on October 3, 1954 in Camden, NJ. Elsie predeceased him in 2020.
William was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he received training from the R.C.A. Institute, the Radio Electronics Institute and the Capitol Radio Engineering Institute. William started out working for R.C.A. as an engineer for a local radio station. Upon moving to Fishkill, NY, he worked as a Senior Technician Specialist for IBM until his retirement in 1990. For fun, William enjoyed bowling with his wife Elsie and they also played in many leagues in both the Fishkill Bowl and Southern Dutchess Bowl. Prior to moving to New York, he also bowled in leagues in Runnemede, NJ. He enjoyed films, especially anything war related. He loved taking trips to Atlantic City to play the slots, traveling with IBM Retirement sponsored trips including Las Vegas and Hawaii and enjoyed time spent with friends and family on Margate Beach.
William is survived by his beloved children Susan Cook of Fishkill, NY, Nancy Cook Kramer (Larry) of Houston, TX, and William Cook, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; his loving grandchildren Ashley Radford, Taylor and Cailyn Cook, and Lauren and David Kramer; great-grandchildren Leilani and Riley Radford; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Elsie, William was pre-deceased by his sister Margaret Rodman and his brother Henry Cook.
