William Dengler, 78, a resident of Wappingers Falls and previously of the Bronx, died on September 12, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.
Born on January 23, 1943 in Manhattan, William was the son of Ernest and Clara (Stuckinger) Dengler. On April 8, 1967 in the Bronx, William married the love of his life, Johanna Brizzi, who survives at home.
William proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis where his vessel intercepted the Russian Troller. He worked at Con Edison as a foreman where he retired in 1997 after more than 30 years.
William was a volunteer at Castle Point for many years and an avid NASCAR fan. He loved taking care of his well combed lawn and tinkering with things around the house. He was a member of NYC Life saving service and also taught swimming and first aid.
In addition to his wife Jo, William is survived by his children, Debbie Raffaele and her husband John of Pleasant Valley, William E. Dengler Sr. and his wife Kathy of Trinity, FL; and his grandchildren, Gabrielle, Samantha, Gianna, Kortni, Sofia, Sidney and Grace.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 12:30pm at the funeral home followed by interment at St. Mary Cemetery in Wappingers Falls.
