William E. Dougherty Jr. passed away on August 15, 2025 at the age of 89 in New Port Richey, FL. Born in the Bronx, NY on July 6, 1936, he was the son of the late William E. Dougherty Sr. and Gertrude Dougherty.

William proudly served our country in both the U.S. Marine Corp and the U.S. Navy. He was a Senior Engineer at IBM and was awarded multiple patents.

One of William's favorite things to do was to get on a boat and spend the day fishing. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing on IBM's softball team, acting in many theatrical productions with the Dutchess County Players, and being President and Member of the Dutchess Park Lake Association.

William is survived by his two daughters: Laura E. Kraft and Caroline M. Morrison; his 4 grandchildren: Jennifer C. Kraft, Carrie M. Morrison, Timothy J. Schweiger, and Joshua N. Schweiger; his sister Marguerite Thiemann; his nieces and nephews: Donald Thiemann, Mary Streber, Elizabeth Cicola, Michael Thiemann, Susan DiSisto, and Beverly Thiemann Koniss; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter Amy Jeanne Schweiger and his brother Peter Dougherty.

Calling hours will be held on Friday August 29, 2025 from 6- 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill 1089 Main St. Fishkill, NY. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday August 30, 2025 at 11am at Fishkill Rural Cemetery 801 Route 9 Fishkill, NY.
