PEEKSKILL - William James Guyhto, 74, a resident of Peekskill since 1996, died on May 18, 2016 at the New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. He previously lived in the Bronx and Manhattan.

Born in Manhattan on July 30, 1941, he was the son of the late William James and Blanche Alexandria (Michael) Guyhto. William was a graduate of Fordham University, where he was on the basketball team with Denzel Washington. He proudly served in the US Air Force for a period of 9 years during the Vietnam War. William had been employed as a Lieutenant for the NYS Department of Corrections in Manhattan. An avid photographer, he loved taking pictures.

William is survived by his daughter, Gina Greco-Guyhto of Hopewell Junction; his sister, Toni Roberts of Co-Op City; his nephew, Marc Roberts of Atlanta, GA; his niece, Dani Ahmed of Co-Op City; his cousin, Angie Michael of Austin, TX; and his cousins, Ellie and Leroy Moorehead of Co-Op City and their daughter and her husband, Nikki and Tony Simmons. He was predeceased by his daughter, Ayanna Jenelle Guyhto in August 2013 and his great-nephew, Davin Roberts in February 2016.
