William Habekost, age 70, passed away on April 26, 2023. He was born on January 26, 1953 to parents Wilbur and Florence (Scheifele) Habekost in Queens, NY.
William loved superheroes and comic books, and loved going to either McDonald's or White Castle for some delicious hamburgers. He loved all different types of foods, from roast beef sandwiches to chocolate. He loved watching old tv shows like I Love Lucy and the Andy Griffith Show. William was so proud to have competed in the Special Olympics. Over the years, he spent quite a bit of time at Briggs Farm in Poughkeepsie, helping to feed the animals and spend time with them, and that brought him a lot of joy.
William is survived by his loving sisters Nancy (Michael) Dropkin and Peggy (Bill) Barry; his nieces and nephews: Pam, Nikki, Danielle, Ashley, Billy, Nancy, Meghan, Joe, and Kevin; his great nieces and nephews; and all of his friends and family at New Horizons on Dwight Street in Poughkeepsie.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday May 2, 2023 from 3-7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday May 3, 2023 at 10am at St. Columba Church in Hopewell, followed by burial at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
