William E. Keaveney entered eternal rest at home on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife Sonja, sons Mark and Tom, daughter Tracy, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and friends.
Bill was born February 22nd, 1938, to Thomas P. and Anna R. Keaveney. He grew up in Johnstown, NY and attended Johnstown High School where he lettered in football and played on JHS's only undefeated team.
In 1955, Bill joined the General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY and was a graduate of the General Electric Apprentice Training Program. His employment included training at the Schenectady Steam Turbine facility as well as the Light Military Division of GE in Utica, NY. In 1964, Bill joined the IBM Components Division in Fishkill, NY as a Test Equipment Designer. He retired in 2004 having held numerous management and staff positions.
Together with his 1st wife Dolores Cioffi (†), they raised three sons, Gregory (†), Mark and Thomas. He was an active father and coach in baseball and scouts.
Bill enjoyed playing softball for several years and was an avid fan of the NY Giants and NASCAR. He particularly enjoyed touring on his motorcycle and though he had toured throughout the US, he clearly enjoyed the countless hours riding the back roads of the northeast with his longtime friend, Donald MacDonald.
Dad had a wonderful life and most cherished his faith in God and time spent with family and friends.
He is survived by the love of his life, his dear wife Sonja Falbo-Keaveney, their daughter Tracy and her husband Lt. Col. George Stephan; his sons Mark and Tom and their longtime companions Lisa and Cristina; his grandchildren Matthew, Katherine, Norther and Danielle Keaveney, Amanda and her husband Ryan Forgham, Spc. George V, Emma and Joseph Stephan; as well as great grandchildren Leaf and Ruairi Mulford, and Declan Forgham, along with his dear sister Maureen White and a cat named Pucks.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 11, from 4-7pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, April 12, at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local Hospice who assisted Bill in his wish to remain at home with his family.
