William B. Kimmel Sr. passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, New York. He was 86 years old.
Born in Beacon, New York, on February 17, 1940, he was the son of the late William C. and Adalaide (Conklin) Kimmel.
Bill was a lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley and a proud graduate of Spring Street School and Beacon High School, Class of 1958. Following graduation, he began a long and dedicated career with A&P Supermarkets, where he worked as a butcher and meat manager for 31 years.
A man who loved the outdoors, Bill enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and growing tomatoes. For many years, he operated as a small tomato farmer, taking great pride in sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He also worked on forest fire crews for New York State, contributing his time and efforts to protecting the region's natural resources.
Community service was a cornerstone of Bill's life. He was a Life Member of the Beacon Engine Fire Company for more than 52 years and served actively as a firefighter and fire police officer for 25 years. He was also a member of the Nelsonville Fish and Fur Club for over 58 years and a former Life Member of the Garrison Fish and Game Club.
Above all else, Bill cherished his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his sons and grandson, who brought immense pride and happiness to his life.
Bill is survived by his loving sons, William Kimmel Jr. and his wife Susan, and Timothy Kimmel; his beloved grandson, Noah Timothy Kimmel; and his loving companion, Beatrice Carroll, along with his former wife Brenda Kimmel. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis Matarazzo.
Bill will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his community, and his love of the outdoors. His kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those he loved will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 4 PM - 7 PM at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill Inc. 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A service will be held on Friday June 5, 2026, at 11 AM in the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Cold Spring Cemetery,15-61 Peekskill Road, Nelsonville, NY.
