William T. Martin, a nine-year resident of Fishkill and formerly of Yonkers, died at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. He was 96.
Son of the late Joseph and Mary (Olesnovich) Martin, he was born in Manhattan on May 8, 1918. He worked in the construction industry and later became an insurance agent for the John Hancock Financial Network.
In 1947, he married Helen Geraghty. William was predeceased by his wife on July 16, 1978.
He is survived by his daughter, Janet Martin of Fishkill; two sons, Bill Martin & his wife Liz of Valley Cottage and Rick Martin & his wife Rosa of Stormville; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Martin & his wife Victoria and Thomas Martin; and a sister, Virginia Johnson.
In addition to his wife and parents, William was also predeceased by two sisters, Joan Faessler and Christina Martin.
Calling hours will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 12 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
