Nastasi
January 16, 1930 – January 1, 2025
William R. Nastasi, passed away on January 1, 2025 at the age of 94 at the Taconic Rehab at Hopewell. He was born on January 16, 1930 in Manhattan to the late Thomas and Jennie (Raitano) Nastasi. On September 29, 1957, William married his beloved wife Annette (Zingales) Nastasi at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Astoria, Queens.
William proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. He worked in the insurance industry for 30 years, retiring as Manager of the Home Insurance Company in 1983. He then sold cars at the Brownell Motors Dealership in Fishkill, NY for 2 years before starting his second career as a Corrections Counselor for 22 years in the Department of Corrections at Downstate Correctional Facility. He retired at 90 years old!
In his spare time, William was an avid NY sports fan, especially of his beloved Yankees. He loved Sunday family get togethers, playing baseball and going bowling.
He is survived by his beloved wife Annette Nastasi; his 3 sons: Thomas Nastasi of Poughkeepsie, NY, Robert Nastasi of Wappingers Falls, NY, and William Nastasi and his wife Gail of New Paltz, NY; his grandson Daniel Nastasi of Wappingers Falls, NY; his 2 step-granddaughters Arielle and Paige Hammer; as well as 8 nieces and 2 nephews; and several cousins.
William was predeceased by his brother Joe Nastasi, several aunts, uncles, in-laws and cousins, and by his loving dogs Duke and Sheba.
William's family would like to give special thanks to the staff at the Taconic Rehab at Hopewell for the loving care they provided.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday January 12th, 2025 from 1-4 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc. 1089 Main St. Fishkill. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held on Monday January 13th, 2025 at 10:15 am at the funeral home, followed by entombment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
