WAPPINGERS FALLS- William T. Oldfield, a Wappingers Falls resident since 1963, formerly of Plymouth, Pennsylvania & Endicott, New York, died on June 16, 2026. He was 97 years old.

He was born to the late Thomas & Mary (Mangan) Oldfield on October 15, 1928. William grew up in Plymouth, where he would go on to make all of has sacraments through the Latin Liturgical Rites.

He served in the United States Army for two years. In those two years of service, he would be honorably discharged under the rank of a Staff Sargeant.

William would go on to have a successful thirty-year career with the IBM branch in Fishkill. He retired in 1987 as a Contracts Manager.

He was a parishioner at St. Martin de Porres Church for many years. William was also a member of the American Legion Post 1302 in Poughkeepsie, VFW in Wappingers Falls, Knights of Columbus Wappingers Council #1646, Chapters 84 &148 of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, and a Dutchess County Fair Volunteer in the Antiques Barn.

On June 19, 1954, he married Gertrude Ann Wilcox. Gertrude predeceased William on September 17, 2020. Aside from his parents and wife, William is predeceased by his son William in 2014 and his siblings, Thomas, Catherine, James, John and Baby Ralph.

William is survived by his children, Mary Beth Steinbach (Randall), Thomas Oldfield (Donna), John Oldfield, and Catherine Wagner (Ralph); his grandchildren Sarah Steinbach, Rosemary Thorp (John Mercer), Tamera Oldfield, Thomas Oldfield, Samantha Oldfield, Alexandra Oldfield, Sage Wagner, and Jade Wagner; and his great grandsons, Robert (Bobby) Thorp and John (Jack) Thorp IV.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Sunday June 21 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. A Traditional Latin Requiem Funeral Mass will take place the following day, Monday June 22, at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Rd, Poughkeepsie, NY. Interment will follow at St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery in Larksville, Pennsylvania.
