POUGHKEEPSIE - William B. Smith, 95, an area resident for the past 10 years, passed away on June 17, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He previously lived in Thornwood for 45 years where he raised family.

Born in Roxbury, CT on December 9, 1919, he was the son of the late Lincoln and Susan (Pierce) Smith. William (Bill) was employed as a manager for IBM in New York City until his retirement.

On October 10, 1948 at St. Frances of Rome Church in the Bronx, William married Helen (Curley) Smith. They were married for 48 years at the time of her death on December 21, 1996. He is survived by his children, Robert B. Smith and his wife Laura Brock of New York City, Craig W. Smith and his wife Patricia Smith of Redwood City, CA, Scott M. Smith and his wife Peggy Erlenkotter-Smith of Stamford, CT, and Dana M. Smith-Bohlig and her husband Robert Bohlig of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Morgan, Justin, Geoffrey and his fiancée Adrienne, Allison, Elisabeth, and Bridget; and several nieces and nephews.
