William Francis Stephens, age 73, passed away on January 13, 2023 at Castle Point VA Medical Center. He was born on February 16, 1949 in Beacon, NY to parents William and Maria (Allaude) Stephens. He married his beloved wife Elvira (Forcone) on October 14, 1973 at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring, NY. She survives at home.
William proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a computer programmer for 50 years, starting out at IBM in East Fishkill and then working at Jack Henry and Associates in Danbury, CT before his retirement in 2012.
William was a devout Catholic and follower of Jesus Christ. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon. He lived a life of faith, honor and love. In his spare time, he loved reading books and Scripture, watching comedy and Disney movies (some of his favorites were Father of the Bride and Aladdin), and listening to music and singing and dancing along to Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, Gene Pitney, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. He loved all the classics.
William was a proud and devoted father, who simply loved his family and loved life. He never missed one of his children's games, coached many of their teams, and truly loved every minute of it. He dedicated his life to helping others and bringing happiness into this world.
William was a big animal lover, the king of corny jokes, a sports fan who especially loved softball and bowling, and loved to travel when he could, taking trips to places like Italy, Turks and Caicos, and Cabo San Lucas. He was a proud Poppy to his four grandsons visiting every sporting event that he could, a caring friend to everyone he met, and loved being fun Uncle Billy to all his beautiful nieces and nephews.
In addition to his loving wife Elvira Stephens, William is survived by his 3 children: William J. Stephens, Christina Stephens, Lisa Riccardi and her husband Jason; his 4 grandchildren: William and Zachary Stephens, and Ethan and Blake Riccardi; his brother Claude Stephens; half-brothers: Shayne, Craig and his wife Amina, and Brett Stephens; his wife's dear family: Maria and Joe Mastromonaco, Julie & Bob Ingles, Aldo and Maria Forcone, Ottavio and Marie Forcone.
Calling hours will be held from 5-8 pm on Monday January 16th, 2023 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc 1089 Main St. Fishkill. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Tuesday January 17th, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Church 31 Willow St. Beacon, followed by entombment at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
