Obituary

William J. Wagner, 68, a resident of Wappingers Falls for 40 years and formerly of the Bronx, died on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at his home following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in the Bronx on January 25, 1946, he was the son of William and Edna Hammer Wagner. He proudly served our country in the US Navy and was employed as a elevator installer for Local #1, New York City for 30 years until his retirement in 2005. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and was an avid hunter.

On November 22, 1969 at Holy Family Church in the Bronx, Bill married Carol McEvoy who survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, William and Vicky Wagner of Fishkill, Deborah and Michael Todd of Hopewell Junction, Kerri and William Gresler of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley and Nicholas Todd, William, Jonathan and Elaina Wagner; his sisters, Marilyn Burfeindt of Millbrook and Edna Mae Pelliccia of Jamesville; his mother-in-law, Ruth McEvoy of Wappingers Falls; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
