Pleasant Valley - Yvon Poulin, 80, died peacefully at home on September 25, 2021. A resident of Pleasant Valley, he previously lived in Hopewell Junction and Canada.

Born in Canada on July 21, 1941, Yvon was the son of the late Emile and Yvonne (Rodrigues) Poulin. His career in construction spanned over several decades with an expertise in drywall, and he was a proud member of Local 113. He was a member of John 3:16 Christian Center. An avid outdoorsman, Yvon especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.

On October 17, 1981, at the Hopewell Reformed Church, he married Darlene (Pierce) Poulin who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Steven Poulin of New York City; Kristen Small and her husband Derris of North Carolina; and John Strang and his wife Giovanna of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Courtney Rose Leavell, Gregory Leavell, Destiny Small, Karsten Small, Brayden Strang, and Giovanni Strang; his great grandson, Gregory Alan Leavell III (Trey); his siblings, Hugette Poulin and Lorette Brochu; his brothers-in-law and their spouses, Jerry and Carla Doucette, and his sister-in-law, Debbie McCaffrey; and several niece, nephews, and a great-niece.

In addition to his parents, Yvon was also predeceased by his grandson, Todd Yvon Lanthier and his siblings, Benoet Poulin, Claude Poulin, Marc Poulin, Monique Dessarault, Georgette Poulin, Lizette Marcil, Henry Poulin, and his brother-in-law, Bobby McCaffrey.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction with a funeral service at 7:30 pm. Interment will take place on Thursday at 11 am at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
