Zachary Michael Thorne

Lance Corporal Zachary Michael Thorne, 28, passed away tragically on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Spanaway, Washington. 

Zach was born on April 20, 1998, in San Diego, California. He then lived in Grapevine TX & later made his home in Milton, New York, where he graduated from Marlboro High School in 2016.

In 2020, Zach enlisted in the United States Army, beginning a military career that took him to several duty stations, including Korea and Texas, before bringing him to Washington State. His service was an important part of his life, and he served his country with dedication and pride. 

Zach had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He was adventurous by nature, whether that meant rock climbing, hiking, fishing, target shooting, or trying just about any food put in front of him. He enjoyed football and had recently developed a new interest in weightlifting. 

Zach had a way of bringing humor and fun wherever he went, and those who knew him will remember the laughter and good times they shared with him. 

Zach is survived by his father Chris Thorne and his wife Margaret Thorne of Milton, New York; his mother, Cindi Nunn, and her husband, Gene Bell, of Springtown, Texas; his siblings, Christopher Thorne and Kaitlyn Thorne of Milton, New York, and Devin Bell of Springtown, Texas; his grandparents, James and Loreen Thorne of Fishkill, New York, and Larry and Peggy Nunn of Panhandle, Texas; his wife, Amanda Thorne as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, friends, and fellow service members. 

Zach's life ended far too soon, but the laughter, memories, and love he shared with those around him will remain. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. 

Calling hours will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY.
