Obituary for Robert D. Burdick

Robert D. Burdick
Robert D. Burdick, 80, of Poughkeepsie, passed away on February 2, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 30, 1935 in McKean County, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur and Alice Burdick. He served in the US Air Force and was an advisory engineer at IBM for 28 years. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He was also a life member at Green Haven Fish & Game Club, and a member of the American Legion, Loyal Order of the Moose, Eagles and National Rifle Association. For 27 years, he volunteered for Relay for Life and Daffodil Days.

Bob enjoyed working in his yard, planting flowers, doing projects in his garage, and going to his gun club upstate for hunting trips, but most of all he enjoyed having family gatherings. He was a family man who loved his family unconditionally. He was an amazing grandfather and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.

On May 24, 1955, Bob married Audrey Stromberg at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Port Allegany, PA. He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey; his brother, Dick Burdick; his daughters and their husbands, Susan and David Costa, Donna and Nick Johnson Jr., Rhonda and Tony Spero, Anne and Walter Decker; his grandchildren, Kimberly, Justin, Greg, Eric, Anthony, Brittany, Nicholas, Courtney, Eric, Ali, Amanda, Melissa, Sarah, Bobby and Jack; his great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Julianna, Audrey, Braeleigh, Logan and Raina; his brother and sisters-in-law, Bob, Lucielle and Joan Stromberg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his daughter, Kerri Johnston; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Calling hours will be on Saturday from 9:30-11:00am at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. 55 Wilbur Blvd., Poughkeepsie followed by the funeral service at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice. For online condolences, please visit Bob’s Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
