Obituary for
Genaro J. Colabatistto
Genaro J. Colabatistto, 85, an area resident since 2000 and formerly of Yonkers, died peacefully on August 13, 2016 at his home.
Born in Yonkers on July 1, 1931, he was the son of George and Theresa DeBenedetto Colabatistto. Genaro proudly served our country in the US Air Force in Guam during the Korean Conflict with the 54th Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron. He was employed by Con Edison in East View for 38 years until his retirement in 1993.
Genaro was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. A Eucharistic Minister, he was a member of the Secular Order of Franciscans. He loved the outdoors and spending time at his farm in Maplecrest with his children and grandchildren.
On May 23, 1959 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Yonkers, Genaro married Angela Coretti who predeceased him on December 11, 2001. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Teresa and Alfonso SantaTeresa of LaGrangeville, George and Debbie Colabatistto of Wappingers Falls, and Angela and Robert Rovida of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Anthony, Aurora, Adel, Alex, Marco, Matthew, George, Genaro and Guy; and his sister, Angela Rapp.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
